A lot of SMEs think that waste legislation is a barrier on the road towards circular waste management. In reality legislation can offer lots of opportunities to improve both the upcycling process and resource efficiency. Cooperating with (local) authorities can help entrepreneurs to benefit from these possibilities. Other barriers entrepreneurs run into are a lack of time, knowledge and support, which can impact their strong intrinsic motivation to become more circular. And that’s a shame.
